البخلاء والصوم​

دخل شاعر على رجل بخيل فامتقع وجه البخيل وظهر عليه القلق والاضطراب ، ووضع في نفسه إن أكل الشاعر من طعامه فإنه سيهجوه .. غير أن الشاعر انتبه إلى ما أصاب الرجل فترفق بحاله ولم يطعم من طعامه .. ومضى عنه وهو يقول:
تغير إذ دخلت عليه حتى .. .. فطنت .. فقلت في عرض المقال
عليَّ اليوم نذر من صيام .. .. فاشرق وجهه مثل الهلال

ومن الأشعار الجميلة التي قيلت في ذم البخلاء الصائمين قول الشاعر:
أتيت عمرًا سحرًا .. .. فقال: إني صائمٌ
فقلت: إني قاعدٌ .. .. فقال: إني قائمٌ
فقلت: آتيك غدًا .. .. فقال: صومي دائمٌ​

ومن ذلك ما قال أبو نواس يهجو الفضل قائلاً:
رأيت الفضل مكتئبًا .. .. يناغي الخبز والسمكا
فأسبل دمعة لما .. .. رآني قادمًا وبكى
فلما أن حلفت له .. .. بأني صائم ضحكا
